Fields, Surra, Connor, Kot and Luzier claim 2017 Point Championships at Hummingbird Speedway.

A chilly Saturday night welcomed fans and drivers from all over the area, even Ohio, to Hummingbird Speedway for Season Championship night. Drivers claiming checkered flags on the night included: Josh Fields from Brockport in the Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stocks, Jon Lee from Mahaffey in the Swanson Heavy Duty Truck Repair Semi-Late Models, Dave Shagla Jr. from Sugar Grove in the Street Stocks, Chris Farrell from Clearfield in the BWP Bats Super Late Models, and Curt Babcock from Shinglehouse in the Aaron's of DuBois Front-Wheel Drive Four-Cylinders. Also, drivers picking up Season Championships included: Josh Fields from Brockport in the Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stocks, Doug Surra from Kersey in the Swanson Heavy Duty Truck Repair Semi-Late Models, Brandon Connor from DuBois in the Street Stocks, Paul Kot from Brockway in the BWP Bats Super Late Models, and Eric Luzier from Clearfield in the Aaron's of DuBois Front-Wheel Drive Four-Cylinders.

Josh Fields and Dustin Challingsworth led the Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stocks trackside for their opening 15-lap feature event. Fields jumped out to the early lead over Challingsworth for a few laps until a caution would come out and bring the field back together. On the following restart, Fields and Challingsworth battled valiantly for the lead for a few more laps until another caution flag brought the field back together once again. Challingsworth gave Fields a hard charge for the lead on the final restart as the race passed the halfway mark. Challingsworth followed in Fields' tire tracks in the closing laps but didn't have enough to get around Fields as he held on to get the win and claim the 2017 Pure Stock Championship. Challingsworth, Zack Gustafson, Andy Frey, and Kylee Brown rounded out the top 5. Josh Fields won the lone heat race.

Doug Surra and Jon Lee led the Swanson Heavy Duty Truck Repair Semi-Late Models to the track for their 20-lap feature race. After a couple quick caution flags, the race saw it's first extended green-flag run of the race. Lee jumped out to the lead with Surra and Erskine following behind. Another caution for a hard wreck in between turns one and two would bring the field back together. On what would be the final restart of the race, Lee took off from the rest field as Surra and Erskine settled in second and third respectively. Lee continued to lead as the race reached the halfway mark with Surra and Erskine following behind. The laps continued to click away as Lee continued to pull away from the pack. Lee would have a right-rear tire go flat with two laps to go but it did not phase him as he held on to pick up the win. Surra, Erskine, Lester Hudson, and Deegen Watt rounded out the top 5. Surra and Lee won the heat races. Doug Surra claimed the 2017 Semi-Late Model Championship.

Bruce Hartzfeld and Brandon Connor led the Street Stocks trackside for their 20-lap feature event. A handful of early caution flags kept things close through the early laps. After these cautions, the race saw it's first extended green-flag run of the night and Connor take the lead. Connor led for a few laps with Fuzzy Fields and Dave Shagla Jr in close pursuit in second and third. Another caution would bunch the field back together once again. On the following restart, Fields, Shagla and Sammy Swauger worked their way around Connor to take the first, second, and third spots respectively. Fields and Shagla battled for the lead until yet another caution brought the field together again. On the final restart of the race, Fields and Shagla continued to battle valiantly for the lead with just a few laps to go. Fields got loose off of turn 4 on the last lap, opening the door for Shagla. Shagla used the inside line to his advantage and edged Fields to the line by a mere .028 seconds. Fields, Swauger, Kyle Shannon, and Connor rounded out the top 5. Hartzfeld and Connor won the heat races. Brandon Connor claimed the 2017 Street Stock Championship.

Chris Farrell and Paul Kot led the BWP Bats Super Late Models to the track for their 25-lap feature race. After three very quick caution flags, the race saw it's first green-flag run. Kot jumped out to the early lead with Farrell following behind as several laps got completed. Kot continued to lead until another caution of a spin on the frontstretch bunched the field back together. On the following restart, Kot continued to lead with Farrell following close behind as the laps continued to click away. A number of laps later, Farrell caught Kot and slipped to the inside of him and passed him to take the race lead just before another caution flag would wave. Another caution flag would wave, keeping things close. On the final restart, Farrell checked out on the field with Kot and Mike Blose following behind. Kot was then passed by Blose for second in the closing laps. No one had anything for Farrell as he held on to pick up the win. Blose, Kot, Billy Eash, and Scott Alvetro rounded out the top 5. Farrell, Kot, and Eash won the heat races. Paul Kot claimed the 2017 BWP Bats Super Late Model Championship.

Randy Albert and Eric Luzier led the Aaron's of DuBois Front-Wheel Drive Four-Cylinders trackside for their 12-lap feature event. Albert jumped out to the early lead before a crash in turn 1 involving the points leader, Luzier, brought out the caution flag on lap 2. That gave the second spot to Zach Lennox for the restart. On the restart, Lennox took the lead from Albert and Jim Fye and Zack Frantz got passed him to take second and third respectively. Lennox continued to lead until a caution for a mechanical failure on Frantz' car, ending his night. This moved newcomer, Curt Babcock into the third spot behind Lennox and Fye for the restart. On the final restart, Babcock drove his way around Fye for the second spot as Lennox continued to lead. Babcock then set his sights on the race leader as the laps continued to click away. Babcock caught Lennox with just a few laps remaining. He raced Lennox valiantly on the inside as the race neared the final lap. On the final lap, Lennox went wide in turn 4 allowing Babcock to use the low line to his advantage to edge Lennox at the line to pick up the win in his first ever race at the track. Lennox, Fye, Tim Maines Jr, and Jim Boyer rounded out the top 5. Albert and Luzier won the heat races. Eric Luzier claimed the 2017 Aaron's of DuBois Front-Wheel Drive Four-Cylinder Championship.
