Reynoldsville (June 4)—Victory lane looked mostly like the beginning of the alphabet Saturday evening at Humming bird Speedway as Randy Albert of Morrisdale, Luke Barnett of Mahaffey, Jason Beichner of Shippenville, Bryce Craft of Frenchville, Ed Connor of DuBois, and Andrew Frey of St. Marys all took top honors at the one third mile speed plant.

Craig Cummings and newcomer Zachary Glass made up the front row of the 15-lap Sunny 106.5FM micro sprint feature. Glass grabbed the early advantage on the field and started to pull away from the pack as Craft made his way to the second spot. After a restart on lap 5, Ryan Beatty rolled his car over in turn one causing red flag. He was uninjured, but had to retire for the evening. Glass continued to lead with Craft keeping the pressure on. Craft worked to the low line of Glass and made the pass for the lead on lap 9. Craft was able to pull away from the field late as he went on to take his second win of the season. Beatty picked up the heat race win.

Newcomers, Kenny Schaffer and Eric Moore led the field of BWP Bats steel block late models onto the racing surface for their 25-lap main event. After a number of early cautions, Moore grabbed the lead, and was being challenged by Connor. Connor used a good restart to his advantage on lap 7 as he overtook Moore on the outside for the lead. The pair pulled away from the field and ran that way through the midway mark with Schaffer, Denny Fenton, and Dan Smeal completing the top five. Connor was smooth as he continued to add to his lead with Smeal and Fenton getting by Moore late in the race. In the end, it was all Connor as he took home the win. Skip Lindemuth and Jeff Taylor took the heat race wins.

By winning their heat races, Bruce Hartzfeld and Bob Connor sat on the front row of 20-lap street stock main.  Connor led the early stages of the race with Hartzfeld making a number of moves to get by the leader. Hartzfeld was successful on lap 5 and took top spot. Hartzfeld’s lead was short lived as Barnett worked the low line a lap later to take the top spot. Barnett continued to lead at the halfway point with Bob McMillen, Hartzfeld, Connor, and Shawn Lindemuth trying to keep things close. Barnett continued to stretch out his lead the rest of the race and took a 3.3 second win over McMillen.

Beichner and Adam Nixon led the field of Swanson Heavy Duty Truck Repair semi late models onto the racing surface for their 20-lap main. Beichner grabbed the early lead and held it through a number of early caution periods with Neil Wilson, Jr. running in second. Beichner stretched out his lead through the halfway mark with Wilson and Nixon hooked up in a good battle for second. With Nixon and Wilson continuing to swap the lead and paint throughout the remainder of the race, Beichner was able to pull away for second win. Beichner won the lone heat.

St. Mary’s drivers Frey and Tim Steis were on the front row of the 15-lap pure stock main. Frey took the early lead with Jim Challingsworth, Ben Krause, and Steis battling close for second. Challingsworth worked the low line to get by Frey but was denied the lead a number of times. Challingsworth’s persistence paid off as he took over the lead on lap 8. Two late race cautions kept the field close, and after a lap 10 break, Frey regained the lead. Frey then had to hold off the late race challenges by Dustin Challingsworth and Krause, and edged out Dustin Challingsworth by 0.04 seconds at the line to claim his first career win. Krause and Dustin Challingsworth copped the heats

Eric Luzier and Austin Hockenberry made up the starting front row of the 12-lap Aaron’s of DuBois front wheel drive four-cylinders feature. Albert dove under Luzier on the first circuit for the lead and moved quickly to the high line. John Campisano followed suit as they work quickly through the field. They ran that way through the midway mark with Luzier, Tom Peters, and Anthony Campisano completing the top five. Lap 9 saw Anthony Campisano slow on the backstretch bringing out the caution flag. As the field was getting set for the restart, rain began to fall. Flagman, Bob Sullinger deemed the racing surface to slick to continue, giving Albert his first win of the year. John Campisano and Zack Frantz won the preliminaries.
