Reynoldsville- A cool, brisk night welcomed fans from all over the area to the season opener Saturday evening at Hummingbird Speedway. The track saw many familiar faces return to the track as well as many new ones mixed in. Opening Night also brought forth 5-time track champion Bob Connor taking over the reigns as head flagman at the track. Feature Winner's on Opening Night included: Josh Fields of Brockport in the Pure Stocks, Nick Erskine of Bells Landing in the Semi-Late Models, Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Street Stocks, Charles Powell Jr. of Brookville in the Late Models, and Zack Frantz of DuBois in the Front-Wheel Drive 4-Cylinders.

The Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stocks kicked off the feature action with Jim Challingsworth and John Campisano leading the way in the 15-lap main. Challingsworth got the early jump and maintained the race lead for several laps. A hard charging Dustin Challingsworth and Josh Fields started to run down Jim Challingsworth as the race neared it's halfway mark. Tim Steis also charged up through the field and challenged both Challingsworth's and Fields for the lead. Dustin caught his Dad just a handful of laps in and made some contact allowing Josh Fields to pass both Challingsworth's. Steis would then challenge Dustin for the second spot and take it as the laps ran down. Josh would go on to win a caution-free Sunny 106.5 FM Pure Stock Feature. Steis, Dustin Challingsworth, Jim Challingsworth, and Mike Anderson rounded out the rest of the top 5. Dustin Challingsworth won the lone heat race.

The Swanson Heavy Duty Truck Repair Semi-Late Models were next on the speedway for their 20-lap feature with Nick Erskine and Doug Surra taking the opening green flag. Erskine grabbed the early lead until a caution came out early for debris on the backstretch that bunched everyone back up. After a spin in turn two, the field got the green once again and Erskine grabbed the lead and pulled away from Surra until another caution would come out at the halfway mark for a spin on the backstretch. Two more cautions would fly in the second half of the race but neither would phase Erskine as he would continue to be strong the rest of the race and go on to win. Surra, Kevin Clark, Steven Zimmerman, and Neil Wilson Jr. rounded out the top 5. Erskine and Surra won the heats.

The Street Stocks were next to the racing surface for their 20-lap feature event with Bob McMillen and Sammy Swauger leading the field to the green flag. Josh Frantz, who started third, quickly drove by both McMillen and Swauger to take the lead just after the green. Frantz maintained the lead for several laps until a caution for Swauger looping his car around on the backstretch brought the field all back together. On the ensuing restart, Frantz chose the outside and that put hard charging Fuzzy Fields to his inside. They got the green and Fuzzy used the inside line to help get around Frantz. And then Brandon Connor would also drive around Frantz to move into the second position. Fields would pull away from Frantz and the rest of the field until a debris caution tightened things up once again. On the next restart, it was Fields on the outside and Connor on the inside. Connor challenged Fields pretty hard on the restart but Fields pulled away again until a spin in turn 4 brought the caution out again. On what would be the final restart, it was Fields and Connor leading the way once again. Fields pulled out to a slight advantage over Connor but Connor fought hard on the bottom but just didn't have enough as Fuzzy Fields would go on to win. The win capped off the Father-Son duo as Fuzzy's son, Josh, won the Pure Stock feature earlier on in the night. Connor, Rich Howell, McMillen, and Swauger rounded out the top 5. Fields and Connor picked up the heat wins.

Dan Smeal and Charles Powell Jr. led the field of BWP Bats Late Models trackside for their 25-lap feature. On the initial start, Powell pulled away from the field as Paul Kot was driving his way up through the field after starting the race towards the back. Powell would continue to pace the field until a spin involving two cars brought out the first caution just a few laps in. On the ensuing restart, Powell pulled away from Smeal and the rest of the field. Smeal, however, received a hard charge by Denny Fenton for the second position but Smeal was able to hang on until another caution came out for a spin in turns 1 and 2. The green went back out with Powell pulling away and an intense battle began between Smeal and Fenton for second once again. In the meantime, Kot caught Smeal and Fenton and it became a three-man race until a spin turns 3-4 collected both Smeal and Kot giving second place to Fenton. The next restart saw an intense battle for the race lead between Powell and Fenton that resulted in Fenton getting the lead for a lap and then Powell getting it back before Fenton spun out on the frontstretch giving second place to Kot. Powell would takeoff on the next restart with Kot behind in second. One more caution would occur before the final restart which would have Powell takeoff as he had the entire night but Kot reeled him in in the closing laps and made it a very close finish as Powell won by just a fender. Kot, Fenton, Dwayne Brooks, and Derek Rodkey rounded out the top 5. Powell won the lone heat race.

The Aaron's of DuBois Front-Wheel Drive 4-Cylinders were next on the racing surface for the final feature of the night. Eric Luzier and Randy Albert led the field 4-Cylinders to the green flag. It was a three car battle early for most of the night as Albert, Luzier, and Zack Frantz all battled for the top 3 positions. The top 3 remained unchanged until Frantz worked his way around Luzier for the second position. The order would remain that way until a caution came out for a couple slow cars on the backstretch. A tight battle grew between Albert and Frantz on the ensuing restart and Frantz prevailed as he got around Albert and started to grow his lead over the field. A second caution then came out for a stopped car in turn 1. Under caution, a mechanical failure on Albert's car forced him to retire for the evening giving Luzier the 2nd spot and Jimmy Ogden 3rd. Eric Luzier gave Frantz tough challenge on the final restart but just didn't as Frantz held on to get the win. Luzier, Ogden, Dustin Kemp, and Aaron Luzier rounded out the top 5. Albert and Eric Luzier picked up the heat wins.
